What if the largest countries had the biggest populations?

Good question! Just found this on Buzzfeed & appreciated that someone already provided the answer. Looks like a map from Sid Meier's Civilization strategy games, where also countries located on different corners of the world.

Some interesting info I found on land mass & population:

  • Canada is the world's second largest country by total area (after Russia) with a land mass of 9,976,140 square kilometres. 
  • Yet it has only a population of 33 million & its population density is very low: 3.3 people/sq. km.
  • On the other hand India is 7th largest country by area, but it has a whopping number of population: almost 1,2 billion people. 
  • It means 349 people try to squeeze into a square kilometre.
