The world's largest ice hotel opened, earlier than usual

Gotham on Ice Suite by Dennis Rolland & Andre Landeros Michel, USA.
The world’s largest hotel built of ice and snow, ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi in Swedish Lapland, opened its doors to its first group of guests. Over the past twenty years ICEHOTEL has opened in early December. This year a new construction technique made a month early opening possible. Visitors can already see the contours of the hotel entrance and parts of the Main Hall, ABSOLUT ICEBAR Jukkasjärvi and Ice rooms.

The inauguration of ICEHOTEL 2010/2011 will be on the December 10. This year, the 6,000 square foot building will consist of sixty guest rooms, including Art suites, Ice rooms and Snow rooms. According to tradition, the Ice Church will open the day before the Christmas holidays.

More than 50 people – ice and snow sculptors, tractor drivers, electricians, lighting designers and others – are involved in building ICEHOTEL.

Luxuo reports, The Hotel de Glace in Quebec, Canada, the only ice hotel in North America, is currently set to open on January 7.
