The first song ever been sent into Deep Space

On February 4 2008 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of NASA, The Beatles song "Across the Universe" was broadcasted by NASA into Outer Space. It was also the 40th anniversary of the song, which was written by John Lennon. NASA transmitted the tune more than 400 light years away. The song traveled at a speed of 186,000 miles per second.

I found this information on a Los Angeles Times article "John Lennon: The history behind the songs he wrote" by Lori Kozlowski. A highly recommended reading for Lennon (and Beatles) fans.
